One in the Same
My conlusion is that this world
is a smaller place than we really know it to be. With the power of
the Internet, our world becomes only a wire and we can connect with people
from different lands within seconds of getting onto a computer. A
smaller world lets us take a deeper look into what other cultures are like
and what similarities and differences we have. I truly beleive that
most of the inhabitants of this planet Earth we call home are more alike
than different, just trying to make it everyday and to be happy.
Everything that I leaerned
in the *MU sessions was enlightening and truly taught me about myself and
about persons an ocean's length away. What I learned is that there
are many stereotpes of America and Americans that I happen to agree with.
I also learned that we Americans and Swedes are not all that different
when it comes to what we want out of life. After retrospect on the
forums, it was obvious that we all wanted the same thing, although it may
not have seemed clear at the time. Happiness, and not a Volvo or
million dollar estate in California, is the ideal dream and goal.
And it certainly an attainable one at that.
We are one people of this
world and we certainly do have our differences. But this world has
become a smaller place in my lifetime and it will become increasingly smaller
still. We're more alike than different, and although that may be
going against what this entire assignment was meant for, I am proud to
say that as a human being.
